As the CEO of Coastal Community Support Services, I have dedicated my career to providing compassionate and consistent support to those who need it most in Disability and Mental Health. My journey into this field was inspired by a deep personal connection—being a mother to neurodivergent children, I recognised gaps in the services available within my community. I knew something vital was missing, and I was determined to create a solution.
Before founding my current businesses, I was a self-employed hairdresser for 17 years. After sustaining a shoulder injury, continuing in that line of work was no longer an option. This challenge led me to re-evaluate my career path and ultimately, I changed careers into disability support. I also volunteered as an ambulance responder, where I gained a deep fascination with mental health that fuelled my passion for supporting others.
My inspiration to start CCSS came from a desire to create a support system that not only ensures the highest standard of care for clients but also provides a stable and reliable work environment for my employees. I wanted to build a service where individuals could trust in consistent, compassionate care while also supporting employees—especially working parents—by offering flexibility and eliminating the pressures of "mum guilt."
My mission is to give back to the community. We love to support local sporting clubs. We also created our community pantry, which was born out of a simple yet profound belief: everyone deserves to access necessities without judgment. Our pantry operates on a “no questions asked” policy, allowing people to take what they need with dignity. I am also very proud to support the Vinnies CEO Sleepout raising crucial funds for people experiencing homelessness.
Coastal Community Support Services has become a trusted name in our community for reliable and empathetic care. I am also proud of the impact our community pantry has had, and how it has been embraced by the local community.
Through these efforts, I aim to create a ripple effect of kindness and support in our community, one that not only helps those in need today but also builds a stronger, more compassionate tomorrow. I also want my children to understand that anything is possible with hard work and dedication, and to see that their efforts can lead to meaningful change in the world around them.
